Dropping Internet Explorer

Wednesday, August 27 2003

After spending the weekend at Erik‘s place, I’ve come to the conclusion that I can be a better web surfer if I use Firebird (the stripped down Mozilla browser). It renders HTML and CSS closer to the W3C specification than IE, and has far more features.

I’ve forced myself to use it by removing all buttons to IE, making Firebird my default browser, and turning off email previews in Outlook. So far, I hardly notice I’m using a different browser.

Once I do some customizations of Firebird, I’ll begin to really reap the benefits. Tabbed browsing, customizable interface, and lower memory usage should all start helping me become a super hero.
